Job application tracker

A job application tracker that fills itself in

Apptracka is a free job application tracker for people applying to a lot of jobs. Instead of typing each application into a spreadsheet, you install a browser extension once and every application you submit - on LinkedIn, Indeed, Greenhouse, Workday and 40+ other boards - is saved automatically with the role, company, description and link.

What a job application tracker is for

A job application tracker is a record of every role you have applied to and where each one stands: applied, interviewing, offer, rejected. It exists for two reasons. The first is memory - after thirty applications nobody remembers which version of their CV went where, or which recruiter said "we'll be in touch in two weeks". The second is follow-up: applications that get a polite nudge after a week or two are far more likely to get an answer than ones that sit silently. Both reasons only pay off if the tracker is actually up to date, which is exactly where manual tracking fails.

Why most trackers get abandoned

Spreadsheet templates and Notion boards all work on day one. They fail around week three, because every application costs you a second task: switch tabs, copy the title, copy the company, paste the link, set a date. That tax is small per application and enormous across a hundred of them, and it lands exactly when your motivation is lowest. The tracker goes stale, and a stale tracker is worse than none - it makes you think you have a system while opportunities quietly expire.

How automatic tracking works

The Apptracka extension watches for the moment you actually submit an application - a form submit, an "Application sent" confirmation, or a post-submission page you can only reach by having applied. When it sees one, it saves the posting you applied to, marks it Applied, and timestamps it. Nothing is created just because you looked at a job. If a board finishes the application on a different domain than it started on, the extension still attributes it to the posting you were reading.

What you get beyond a list

Every saved application carries its job description, which is what makes the rest useful: a fit score against your CV, a skill-gap breakdown, a tailored cover letter, likely interview questions with STAR answers, and an ATS scan of your resume against that specific posting. Reminders surface applications that have gone quiet. Mood check-ins and a burnout index track the part of a job search nobody measures.
